FNEAA Announces Winners of Storyteller
Àdisὁkewinini National and Regional Awards.

FNEAA is excited to announce the winners of the second annual Storyteller Àdisὁkewinini National and Regional Awards. First Nations children (up to age 14) and First Nations youth (aged 15 to 30) were invited to submit videos and artwork that tell stories of their First Nations cultures and everyday life such as short storytelling, video of songs, dances, learning on the land, artwork on culture, etc. This was a fantastic opportunity to showcase cultures in communities and schools.

The National Award Winners as selected by all participants are listed below.

First Choice Winner:

  • Cortana Lerat-Villebrun, “The 7 Sacred Grandfather Teachings – Truth”. Grade 3, Cowessess Community Education Center, Cowessess First Nation, Saskatchewan

Second Choice Winner:

  • Hannah Millar, “Earrings” Grade 6, Kikendaasogamig Elementary School, Chippewas of Nawash First Nation, Ontario

Third Choice Winner:

  • Tianna Gibson, “Beadwork” Grade 5, Tsi Snaihne School, Akwesasne, Quebec

The Regional Award Winners of the Storyteller Àdisὁkewinini are as follows.

Atlantic

  • Elijah Picard , Sheshatshiu Innu School, Sheshatshiu, Newfoundland and Labrador
