Winter marks a time of storytelling in many First Nations communities. FNEAA would like to highlight the importance of storytelling in schools and communities with the 3rd Annual Àdisòkewininì: Youth Storyteller Contest.

First Nations children, youth and young adults (age 3 to 30) currently attending school are invited to submit videos and artwork that tell stories of their First Nations cultures and everyday life:

  • Videos – Storytelling, Songs, Short Films, Documentaries, Dancing
  • Artwork – paintings, drawings, sculpture, beadwork, and multimedia
  • Animations – Stop motion or computer-generated

This is a great opportunity to showcase cultures in your communities and schools. Your submission will be featured on the First Nations Education Administrators Youth Storyteller Awards Page.

The submissions will be presented as part of the virtual Àdisòkewininì: Youth Storyteller Awards Ceremony where students can share their work. The works will also be featured in a virtual exhibit hosted on the FNEAA website. The goal is to give First Nations Youth a means of expressing pride in their identity, their schools, and their nation. The Virtual Awards Ceremony will take place on March 27, 2024.
