The 2026 FNEAA Conference celebrates the deep relationship between water, life, and Indigenous science. Together, we give thanks to water and the animal and plant life within it, while exploring how STEM education and Indigenous knowledge systems can strengthen environmental stewardship, innovation, and community well-being.
This year’s gathering brings together Indigenous educators, scientists, Elders, youth, and partners to showcase how Indigenous-led STEM initiatives advance ecosystem health, food security, climate resilience, and leadership growth within First Nations communities.
Conference Highlights
- Keynote Presentations: Indigenous knowledge keepers, scientists, and educators on water ecology, biodiversity, and land-based learning.
- Workshops: Practical and creative sessions, including:
- Indigenous approaches to water science and aquatic ecosystem monitoring
- Designing culturally grounded STEM curriculum for First Nations schools
- Leadership best practices and programs in Indigenous education
- Youth innovation and Two-Eyed Seeing approaches
- Community-driven water and land restoration projects
- Let’s Talk Science Indigenous STEM Award: Recognising outstanding Indigenous-led STEM initiatives in education, youth innovation, and community leadership.
- Networking & Sharing Circles: Facilitated discussions with Elders, educators, and youth to exchange best practices and strengthen relationships.
- Innovation Showcase: Highlighting Indigenous-led STEM projects, technologies, and research in water, environment, and sustainability.

FNEAA invites presentations, workshops, and panels highlighting Indigenous STEM initiatives related to water, plant, and animal life.

- Indigenous knowledge in water stewardship and science education
