Call for Presenters!
Creatively Respecting Traditions of Interconnectedness – Taking Action to Achieve First Nation Control of First Nation Education
Virtual National Gathering
October 26 – 27, 2022
The First Nations Education Administrators Association opens the call for presentations for the Second Virtual National Gathering October 26-27, 2022.
The National Gathering provides an opportunity to network, share education best practices and give voice to invaluable insights and perspectives regarding the Traditions of Interconnectedness and Taking Action to Achieve First Nations Control of First Nations Education. First Nations Directors of Education, principals, teachers, educators, Indigenous Institutes and partners in First Nations education are invited to join us and take part in the First National Gathering!
This gathering follows in the tradition of the Assembly of First Nations previous Nations Education Gatherings. Our first virtual gathering was held in October 2021 and was a tremendous success with over 200 participants. The First Nations Education Administrators Association (FNEAA) is a new national organization incorporated on February 6, 2019. The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) through the Chiefs Committee on Education, the National Indian Education Council and Education Sector staff hosted many dialogue sessions with education administrators across the country to determine the need for and goals of the Association. In 2017, the Chiefs in Assembly passed AFN Resolution 15/2017 to support the creation of a national association for directors of education.
This year’s theme: Indigenous Languages: Creatively Respecting Traditions of Interconnectedness – Taking Action to Achieve First Nations Control of First Nations Education will focus on our diverse traditional knowledge and practices to create action and strategies for educational systems that are rich in First Nations’ values, languages, and knowledge. The Gathering will include keynote speakers, keynote panels, and concurrent themed workshops.
The First Nations Education Administrators Association is looking for dynamic speakers for truly inspiring breakout sessions that reflect creative ways of respecting interconnectedness and taking action to achieve First Nations control of First Nations education.
